Senate Reading Group: Democracy in America, Readthrough VI
12:00pm – 1:00pm
Senate staffers, please join us for the final session of the Senate Reading Group as we conclude our abridged readthrough of Alexis de Tocqueville’s Democracy in America. For this session, we’ll tackle chapters 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 8 of volume two, part four (on how democratic ideas and sentiments shape political power, and Tocqueville’s famous warning about the “soft despotism” democracies risk). No need to have read previous chapters to participate.
Please RSVP to John before noon on Friday, October 30th so that we can order enough Chick-fil-A.
Please specify if you need a vegetarian option. Lunch will be provided but bring your own drink.
