Senate Reading Group: The Abolition of Man by C.S. Lewis
12:00pm – 1:00pm
Senate staff! Join us as we read C. S. Lewis’ The Abolition of Man (1943), a natural continuation of our series on mid-20th century Christian intellectuals.Abolition is a classic work on morality, tradition, and education that pairs very well with some of Lewis’ fiction that you might be more familiar with:The Silver Chair (Narnia series) and That Hideous Strength (Space trilogy).
While Abolition is short enough to tackle as a whole (just a two-hour audiobook on regular speed), we have cut it down by two-thirds in the attached PDF. If you are really pressed for time and still can’t handle that much, just skim the final chapter (sharing the same title as the book).
As always, Chick-fil-A will be provided (including a veggie option, if requested) but make sure to bring your own drink.
