Faith and Law’s Vision for the Scholars Program
Building upon our mentorship program, Faith and Law is launching a new in-depth program designed to equip Hill staff with the knowledge and insight to apply the biblical worldview to public policy. Over the course of five months, Scholars will explore the key theological components of orthodox Christianity—Creation, Fall, Redemption and Restoration—and how these components should shape Christian engagement with the public square. Through readings and discussions, participants will also gain an appreciation for how Christians operating out of different traditions, ranging from Catholic Social Teaching to Kuyperianism to the Black Church, have understood and interacted with public life.
Why Join Us?
Participants in the Scholars Program will gain a framework for thinking about public policy and politics from a Christian worldview, hearing from an array of speakers and engaging with key texts. Working with a mentor, participants will craft a capstone policy paper that applies aspects of the biblical worldview to illuminate their chosen policy area.
Expectations & Requirements
Participants are expected to attend at least five out of the seven scheduled seminars (listed below), meet with their policy mentor at least three times, write a five to seven page policy paper and present it at a one-day retreat in January. Those who successfully complete all aspects of the program will be recognized at Faith and Law’s annual Evening Forum in Spring 2026. Scholars’ participation in five out of seven seminars, the January retreat, and Faith & Law’s Evening Forum are required for successful program completion.
Prospective Scholars must be serious about their Christian faith (whether new to the Faith or not) and committed to full participation in the program. Mid- to senior-level staff are strongly encouraged to apply, including those who have completed Faith and Law’s mentorship program. Three years of service on the Hill or in public policy is preferred for program candidates. Even if you do not meet these qualifications, we still encourage you to apply. We are eager to build a diverse cadre of participants for this first cohort.
