A Lament for Racial Injustice

Friday, June 19, 2020
2:00pm – 3:00pm

These are difficult and important days in America’s history. The very-present legacy of 400 years of racial injustice in our country have led to this volatile moment. “A Lament for Racial Injustice” is one way to respond– with grief, tears, and prayers.

On Friday June 19 from 3-4pm, our partner, Coracle will offer a virtual service broadcasted from the Corhaven Graveyard, a burial place for enslaved African American’s in Virginia.

We will hear reflections from a variety of voices, as well as times of silence for prayers and reflection. Scenes from the graveyard will be shown to remind us of how its legacy remains present with us. We invite you to pray with us and lament with us the racial injustice of our country, in hopes that God will hear our cries and move our country toward the racial justice that is inherent to God’s kingdom and that we all desire.
